CREAM-IV at McMurdo, Nov. 9th 2008
Friday, 21 November 2008 22:08
Dear,
Here is a summary of CREAM-IV flight preparation status on the 9th of November at McMurdo.
- The remaining LPT with SCD, Chercam and TCD was done OK except the following known problems. So the instrument is OK after the shipment.
- The top SCD shows some bad channels as seen at the Palestine before shipping but with similar numbers. This is what we expect to fix by cleaning up the Actel chip pins with rubber eraser.

CREAM-IV at McMurdo, Nov. 8th 2008
Friday, 21 November 2008 22:08
Dear,
After submitting 6 notebook computers for scanning at the Crary lab IT tech support, we attended the NSF briefing at the Chalet at 10 AM. There were 4 science teams in the briefing. By the number, the LDB participants (CREAM, 5 / ANITA, 10) were the majority. Will have to get an environmental field brief on Monday from 8 AM. After taking all 6 notebook computers back from the IT support, we went to the Willie field for a work. In the integration building, we have finished the followings for today.
Arrange tables for GSE and users' spaces temporarily.
Unpack GSE crates and setup GSE.
Check cabling on the instrument to see if there are any damages during the shipment. The TCD is done by Tyler, Chercam by Antje, and Calorimeter and common electronics done by SangEun and myself.
Power on procedure and LPT up to the calorimeter has been completed. Everything was OK so far.

Dear,
Finally, 5 of CREAM-IV launch crews have arrived at the McMurdo station at around 3 PM (NZ) after about 6 hours of comfortable flight from Christchurch via C-17. We met Jim Beatty's student and post-doc for the ANITA at the airport and heard that 5 ANITA members are already at the McMurdo and 5 more are going there with us.

Dear,
SangEun received his baggage last night OK I heard.
This morning, we have received clothing and fit checked at the CDC (Clothing Distribution Center). It turned out that they require now anti-virus programs for Mac and Linux also. Unless we have the software installed, they can not pass our computers. So we have to scan our computers at McMurdo station with the help of IT team there. If you come with any of those OS and want to have the computer scanned and passed, please install appropriate programs.
At CDC, they also provide a flu shot for those who haven't received yet at home. But it would be better still to have the flu shot received for about 2-3 weeks before hand so that it can be effective before starting the trip.
There were about 80 persons this morning at the CDC for tomorrow flight. We will be there by 6 AM and prepare for the flight. The expected departure time is 9 AM.
I guess that I can send an e-mail after arriving at McMurdo station.
Cheers, MooHyun.

CSBF Integration Status, August 1, 2008
Friday, 21 November 2008 22:10
Dear colleagues,
Here is a summary of today's activites at CSBF.
The preparation of the hang test started at 6 AM (CDT).
The weight of the payload w/o rotator and with the bottom solar panels added was measured as 3605 lbs before moving out for the hang test.
After having the payload on the high dolly, it is found that the lift crane is too big to lift the payload with the bottom solar panels. So the bottom solar panels were removed and re-assembled at the outside for the hang test.
The hang test in solar panel power mode was started around 9 AM (CDT).
At the beginning of the hang test, the payload related function was tested with the instrument was in flight mode with the muon trigger.
After the function test, the instrument LPT was completed except the shutdown safe of the SFC1 at the end.
