Dear,

All crews arrived at CERN safely and started user registrations from around 9 AM. Here are things done today.
  • User registration of all members.
  • Received access cards and rental car stickers.
  • Registration of all new notebook computers by Sasha. So people can read and write e-mails.
  • Radiation badges were issued only to those who came first time this year (KiChun, JiHye, and David).
  • The remaining three (SangEun, Hoseok and myself) could not receive them due to a rule that requires medical justification letter as a radiation work from each primary care physician and a radiation safety training. After many hours of phone calls and explanations by Sasha, we could finally got those letters at the medical center thanks to the ICE PQ status available on the web. The doctor at the center was familiar with the PQ procedure and gave us the medical form signed. In the late afternoon, Sasha managed to re-contact with the radiation safety head and got some hopeful answer on a possibility of receiving the badge tomorrow morning even though the safety training is only doable on Monday 1:30 PM and has been reserved.
  • Those three with badges went to the CERN-2 to open the crate and do a DAQ setup. With Sasha and two riggers' helps, the instrument crate was opened and two DAQ PCs were turned on and tested OK.
Here are a plan for tomorrow.
  • The pallet will be integrated into the turn-over fixture.
  • The CDAQ setup will be connected fully including 28 V PS.
  • The calorimeter HPD front panel plate will be loosened on +X & -X sides.
  • Put tedlar sheets on each HPD boxes with tapes for light shielding.
  • Turn HV to 2000 DAC count level (~ 6 kV) and do a LPT.
  • Increase HV values slowly to 2500, 3000, 3500 by ramping up slowly.
  • Replace the ASIC chips in those boards with dead channels. (3 chips at the moment)
  • Borrow electronics from the E-pool and move to the staging area. (Sasha)
  • Assuming that remaining three can get the badges the followings will be done.
    • Replace the calibration board and check the LED data.
    • Cookie alignment.
    • Light shielding between HPD front panels and boxes.
  • The followings are for the TRD-II readout.
    • Move TRD-II EB board and other boards for the TRD-II readout test setup to the clean room. (SangEun, MooHyun)
    • Preparing a pulse generator at the clean room. (Sasha)
    • Try a new firmware for the TRD-II EB board from Larry. (SangEun)
    • Discuss on the status of the CDAQ on TRD-II EB board readout. (Nail, SangEun, MooHyun, Larry?)
Please let me know if you have any questions/comments....

Best, MooHyun
