Dear,
Here is a summary of CREAM-IV flight preparation status on the 11th of November at McMurdo.
- The CREAM instrument is now on its legs after removing the moving table that supported it.
- Solar panels preparation work started in the afternoon when the wind becomes lighter. But still it was a rather windy day.
- During the SFC1/2 test, one of TCD HV (for ch. 4-5 PMTs) found to be off in the housekeeping display. By looking at the muon data, it is confirmed that the HV is off. Tyler has investigated and guess that it might be a short in the HV control DAC circuit damaged during yesterday's work on the attenuation circuit. He will investigate it by looking at the DAC output of the concentrator box tomorrow. If it is the case, the board will be replaced with the one in a spare box.
- The IT tech support reported that the power supply of the aram computer was dead. They found that the 3.3 V line is dead. After finding that the CPU fan is also dead, they kindly proposed that they will provide one of their old PCs (Pentium 4, 1.8 GHz, 1 GB memory) as a replacement PC by moving all 3 hard disks. I asked them to go ahead with the proposal since the proposed CPU seems adequate as a commanding machine. It seems that from next flight, we better have the followings.
- Have one more spare PC since we need 3 PCs for a comfortable operation. It may already apply to the SOC. Please prepare a spare PC for the SOC.
